I grew up in Whippany, NJ playing ice-hockey, adventuring in the woods, riding bikes, both bicycles and motorcycles. I went to college in West Virginia University and studied a little bit of everything.
After college I travelled out west for a while, then wound up in Jacksonville Beach, FL where I continued spending time at the gym. I began to see the futility in weight lifting. I wondered what the point in any of it was and was really looking for something ‘more’.
In December of 1999 I took my first yoga class. I was intrigued, humbled & I hooked. I couldn’t believe how challenging it was to hold simple lunges, especially since at that time I was squatting massive amounts of weight. For the next year I integrated the practice of yoga with cardio and weight training.
By 2001, I gave up weightlifting for yoga. In February of 2001 I moved back to NJ & started a serious yoga practice. In 2003, I completed a 200 hour Anusara Yoga Teacher Training with Todd Norian & began teaching full-time shortly thereafter. The following decade would take me to many trainings & workshops with John Friend, founder of Anusara Yoga as well as a handful of senior teachers & trips around the world. In 2005 I completed my Thai Yoga Bodywork training with Jonas Westring in South Burlington, VT & have been working on people ever since.
In 2013 I attended my first sommelier training and began a new career as a sommelier, in addition to teaching yoga & doing Thai Yoga Bodywork. Around the same time I started working for the REI Outdoor School, instructing yoga for hikers, trail running, mountain biking, stand up paddle board and essential camping skills. In 2015, I got my Certification as a Sommelier with The Court of Master Sommeliers. Today I am studying massage therapy, herbal medicine, meditating, doing breath work, teaching yoga, doing bodywork, hiking, mountain biking, paddling & pouring wine.
